Adding a Streaming Radio Station to Your Blog or Website (Blogger/WordPress)

If you have an entertainment blog, you’ll probably find this extremely useful and make people spend more time on your blog than they normally do. Adding a streaming radio station blasting some really good music is enough to keep anyone coming back to that blog of yours. If you blog about celebrities, showbiz and the entertainment industry generally, one of the best ways to keep your visitors entertained is to add a couple of radio stations. Wait a minute, who doesn’t like music? I’ll be explaining how to add a streaming radio station to your blogger or wordpress blog and I’ll suggest you get one or two streaming links if you’re not satisfied with the radio stations on this post.

If you’re on a PC with a fairly good connection, you should be able to listen to BBC Radio 1Xtra, a station playing just hip hop music.

How To Add This Radio Station to your Blog

Whether you’re on WordPress or Blogger, you need to create a new page. Be sure you switch to HTML editor before proceeding, OK? Then paste the code below directly on the page and publish!

<div id="movId" align="center">
<object id="MediaPlayer1" width="400" height="300" classid="clsid:6bf52a52-394a-11d3-b153-00c04f79faa6" codebase=",1,52,701"><param name="FileName" value="" /><param name="animationatStart" value="true" /><param name="transparentatStart" value="true" /><param name="autoStart" value="true" /><param name="showControls" value="true" /><param name="fullScreen" value="false" /><param name="url" value="" /><param name="pluginspage" value="" /><param name="autostart" value="1" /><param name="showcontrols" value="1" /><embed id="MediaPlayer1" width="400" height="300" type="application/x-mplayer2" src="" FileName="" animationatStart="true" transparentatStart="true" autoStart="true" showControls="true" fullScreen="false" pluginspage="" autostart="1" showcontrols="1" /></object>
</div><div align="left"><a href="" target="_blank"><small>Radio widget for your blog</small></a>

Here are a few things you can change in the code to suite your need: – This is the link to the radio stream. You can change this to a working radio station but be sure the station you’re using is available 24/7. You can as well embed a video or audio file by simply changing the URL. Also, there are other parameters that can be configured. You can change autoStart="true" to false. You can as well change the size.

    You should give a demo page for your visitor to understand your work.

    • Don Caprio

      You should be able to see a demo unless you’re on a mobile phone or your browser doesn’t have the plugin to display the embedded radio station.

  • Dolly Townsend

    Here is my radio station widget code, if anyone wants to use it. I am having a hard time figuring out how to add the widget to my facebook; it was successful to my blog.

    I saw that someone was asking where to find one; this is for an Urban Music Station.

    • Don Caprio

      To use this on Facebook, you may need to create an app for it.

      • Dolly Townsend

        Do you know how I would create an app for it? I would love to have a cell phone app to help people to stream. It only streams for those that have flash player from the site. I would appreciate your input Don Caprio. Thank you for a quick response.
